Preparations are at fever pitch for our 10th birthday celebration next Saturday 12th. We are high on helium and disaster has struck just as T begins to bake… her husband has broken their oven in a fish-pie incident! Couples, asked to produce a list of 15 favourite books to fill our display space, are planning pistols at dawn after failing to find a peaceful means of settling ownership of the 15th book. Meanwhile publishers, erring on the side of caution, have ensured that all their Christmas titles have reached the bookshop by the beginning of October so we are brim-full with the very best of the Autumn crop!
So do join us on the 12th. We will be revealing our Book of the Decade and there are prizes for 3 lucky names pulled from the ballot box so get your votes in – if you can’t make it to the bookshop, email or call us and we will place your vote for you – a bit unorthodox but we are very trustworthy.
We will also be unveiling our first display of a customer’s favourite books, this week, Alfonso Cuaron, who was our first customer back in 2009. There will be sparkling wine, a cake sale, music, balloons and a trip down memory lane with a window full of the best books of 2009.
And as if that weren’t enough, I will be there and available for selfies – just this once though!
