We will send you or your friend one carefully chosen and beautifully wrapped book every month for a year, which might be the book of the moment or an underrated classic. If you or your friend has a passion for a particular genre, we can always accommodate it – for instance crime novels or books set in amazing locations. We will also send each Year in Books recipient one of our canvas bags.

The Paperback Year in Books is also available for 3 month and 6 month periods (Paperbacks: £38 for 3 months, £75 for 6 months)
For any child or teen who is away from home for a prolonged period of time, whether at school, juvenile offenders’ institution, or simply ruling Narnia*. We will post a new book to them once a month during term time (September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June). The books will be the latest publications for their age range, so they will always be the first at school to read it, and we’ll pop something bad for their teeth in the package to enjoy while they read.
*Deliveries to Narnia may take an additional fifty years, or no time at all.
£105 for 10 months
Each month, we will send your child of choice either a classic kids’ book or a new book that’s ideal for their age range and interests. We can send books by a variety of publishers, or if you would prefer they all match, we can send hardback Everyman Children’s Classics or paperback Vintage Classics. A great way to start off a young person’s library, or encourage a keen reader.
£130 Paperbacks, £175 Hardbacks for 12 months

Other Bookish Services:

We will work to your specifications to choose the ideal books for your project. You are welcome to specify classic books, award-winning books or even the most reviewed books, and we will produce the goods. Discounts may be available for particularly large orders. Individuals and organisations can also opt to receive yearly or twice-yearly top-ups of the latest literature.
Wishlists for Holidays and Birthdays are always available in the shop – we will keep a list of books that can be added to at any time behind the counter.

Our beautiful book plates are self-adhesive, and ready to be stuck into the front of all your books. Book plates can be customised for an additional fee.
We sell exclusive, handmade paperweights. Each weight is unique and there are several to choose from at any given time. Personalised commissions can be made to order and designs can incorporate your own photographs, lines from your favourite book or anything you can think of. Please allow at least three weeks for commissions and contact the bookshop for details. Each weight comes boxed and wrapped.
We will help the happy couple make up a list of the books they feel they can’t start married life without. The list will then be available on request via email, post or on the telephone. Once a book has been bought, we will remove it from the list. And as our contribution, each couple will receive a pair of our ‘First Line’ cappuccino or espresso cups.
We will then make up a lovely parcel of all the books your friends have bought you – complete with a bookplate in each one to say who it is from, and any message they wanted us to pass on – and you can collect them from the shop (or we will deliver within a sensible radius). This is also a great service for housewarmings, barmitzvahs, Very Important Birthdays etc etc.
Don’t hesitate to ask us for any other special bespoke service – for instance we might combine one of our delicious bookish perfumes from CB I Hate Perfume with the book that inspired it (so A Room with a View with the EM Forster classic), or combining our beautiful ‘First Lines’ china with the relevant novel.
